HOW THE FARMER/RANCHER PARTICIPATES

The farmer/rancher provides without charge, the feed and care for livestock, or labor, use of land, and machinery for seeding and harvesting crops.  STEER provides the farmer/rancher with donor UNIT funds to purchase livestock of his choice or to plant and seed the crop of his choice.

When feeder cattle are sold or a crop harvested, the original investment is deducted and the gain processed for  missions, thus making the donor's UNIT perpetual.  Since all livestock and crop investments are covered by our insurance program, the donor's investment can never be lost.

When a farmer boards cows, sows or sheep, the offspring becomes the gain that is processed for missions year after year as long as the farmer/rancher participates - when sold, the original investment UNIT is returned to STEER.  This UNIT is then available to be placed with another farmer/rancher.  When a farmer/rancher cares for dairy cows, the milk becomes the gain to missions, monthly as set up by the rancher through a milk assignment form.

BENEFITS TO FARMER/RANCHER

Since the farmer/rancher has the right to designate a large part of the profits to the project or missionary of their choice, they take a personal and prayerful interest in their stewardship.

Many farmer/ranchers are now using the STEER program because they have no cash investment involved.  In this way they are able to give more toward world evangelization without interfering with their giving to the local church.
