GOD'S ACRES
God's
Acres is a way for farmers to use their stewardship of
the Lord's land to benefit missions. It requires no
cash investment on the farmers part, but allows them
to increase their giving to the Lord's work.

God's
Acres also serves as an object lesson reminding you
to pray for your project and also gives you the
opportunity to witness for Christ to visitors on
your farm. Your family, too, can become enriched by
watching the crop grow until ready for harvest.
They will experience much joy and blessing by
virtually becoming a part in the great cause or
world evangelization.
Not only will you
be contributing substantially more to missionary
work, but you will also be profiting spiritually
through an enlarged vision and interest in missions.

Acre project or to receive an agreement of

HOW IT WORKS
-
A donor makes funds
available by purchasing a UNIT.
-
STEER invests the
UNIT funds with a farmer who is interested in
raising crops for missionary work. The UNIT
funds cover the production cost for seed,
fertilizer, chemical, and fuel.*
-
The farmer receives
funds to cover production cost on 5, 10, 20 or
more acres of crops (wheat, barley, durum, corn,
soybean, etc.). He donates his time, the use of
his land, selling the crop during or after
harvest.
-
Following harvest
when the farmer markets the crop, he mails the
check from the sale to STEER. If the farmer is
selling some of his crop at the same time, he
can simply take the overall average and have the
marketing agent make the check payable to STEER,
Inc. for the portion that is designated for
missions. Checks should always be made out
to STEER, Inc. thus not involving the farmer's
personal account. In this way the farmer
will not need to enter this as personal income
and pay social security tax on the project.
-
The farmer will
receive a notice of sales form from STEER for
the gain on the project. The investment funds
(donor UNIT) plus operating and insurance costs
are deducted. Eighty-five percent of the gain is then channeled to
the approved mission society/missionary or
project as designated by the farmer.
-
The original
investment in crops is deducted from the sale
income, thus the UNIT donated is again available
for placement with a farmer and so the cycle is
repeated.
* The
UNIT funds invested in crop are covered by STEER,
Inc. insurance and depreciation fund. However, on
large projects we require the farmer to provide
hail and Federal Crop Insurance.
