Steps To Becoming A Member Mission Society:

STEER, Inc. requires a membership to insure that the missions we serve are doctrinally and financially sound.  To become a member, an officer of your mission makes contact with STEER by letter requesting a membership application form.  When you complete and return this form to STEER, it is acted upon by the General Board of Directors.  A non-refundable $50.00 application fee is required when making application.  Upon approval, your mission will receive notice of membership and a billing for the first year's membership fee.

Eligible Ministries:

  • Evangelical mission organization that are international in scope; para-church or denominational.
  • U.S. mission endeavors for American ethnic groups.
  • Other U.S. ministries may be eligible if ministries are involved in foreign mission work as well.

Not eligible:  U.S. projects or ministries involving churches, Christian schools, camps, radio, literature, youth, rehabilitation, etc... are not eligible for support.

Membership Requirements:

  • Agree with the Doctrinal Position of STEER, Inc.
  • Have proper Board/Council exercising organizational control.
  • Be a financially responsible U.S. based non-profit 501-C-3 organization.
  • Have reputation for integrity and stability.
  • Have general approval of other evangelical missions and organizations such as ECFA, NAE, IFMA or EFMA.
  • Be generally recognized as an international mission organization.

Membership Commitments:

  • Designate a special individual/representative to be responsible for directing you involvement with STEER, Inc.
  • Have five farmers ready to become involved (farmer agreement forms completed and returned to STEER office) before membership is approved.  
  • Provide STEER, Inc. with a financial audit report every three years prepared by an independent certified public accountant.
  • Attend STEER's Fall Missions Conference at least once every three years.
  • Pay annual membership fee by January 1 of each year.  This is figured at 10% of amount you received from STEER the prior fiscal year;  fee will not be less than $100 or exceed $500.
  • Complete application renewal for continued membership every three years.
