Please call the STEER office before you get ready to sell any livestock so that we have the details of where you are selling and when you will be delivering the livestock. This is also a great time to confirm your mission designations.
2
Sell the animal(s) in the name of STEER, Inc. You can take an average if you are selling some of your own cattle at the same time. Just ask the sale barn office to prorate the check. By marketing in the name of STEER, Inc. you do not have to declare the proceeds as income.
3
On a cow/calf project, the calf if considered the gain. Any time a cow is sold, those funds come back to STEER and are put back into our UNIT fund so they can be reinvested again.
4
Always take the blue marketing card with your name, address and description of the animal(s) sold to the sale barn office. (Don’t expect the yard man to get it there.) The sale barn needs to send the marketing card, along with the check, to the STEER office. The marketing card is a huge help to us as we have all the information needed to process the check when we receive it.
5
On the bottom of the marketing card is the STEER address. Make sure the sale barn uses the STEER, Inc. address in Bismarck, North Dakota, not yours.
6
We process the checks the day we receive them. If you do not receive a Notice of Sale Form from our office within two weeks of your sale, call our office and let us know. The sooner we can track down a lost check the better.
7
Please be informed that when you receive a “Notice of Sale Form” from STEER, Inc. that this is not a tax-deductible receipt but only gives information on the gain from your project.
